June 30, 2008 - At the end of each month, the IGN Xbox team likes to toss every recently released game on the floor, put on blindfolds, and take a ball-peen hammer to the small pile of games we've reviewed. Whichever game has the guts to stay in one piece wins the Game of the Month honors. Shoddy craftsmanship is not tolerated around these parts.

Ok, so maybe our selection process is a bit more rigorous and involves things like using our brains. Since most reviews are only looked at by a single person, score alone isn't enough to win the honors. Our pick for Game of the Month is the title that shines bright enough to blind each and every editor with its sparkle. This is the game that we all can agree on and agreement is not something we come to often. If you're looking for a single game to play that was released this month, this is where to go.

June was perhaps our most poorly reviewed month in IGN Xbox 360 history. Store shelves were packed with games -- almost all of which were bad. Few managed to stand out and only our winner for Game of the Month managed to truly earn our admiration.

Why We Picked It: "Battlefield: Bad Company is a great addition to the long-running series, despite the fact that it leaves the comfy confines of the PC world. The added storyline gives newfound depth to the formerly shallow single-player mode, despite the fact that the dramatization pales in comparison to what we've seen from Call of Duty 4. Where Bad Company truly shines is in its multiplayer and the technology that drives the game forward. Both raise the bar in their own right and give the competition something to strive for. In this summer relatively devoid of solid first-person shooters, Bad Company does enough to earn your hard-earned dough." – Nate Ahearn

Why We Picked It: "While Roogoo might look like a standard falling-block puzzler when you first lay your eyes on it, after taking it out for a spin for about an hour or so, its fun factor becomes apparent. It does a good job of keeping the gameplay fresh and increasingly challenging throughout the 45 stages. Couple that with the multiplayer content and Roogoo's package is enough to justify the 800 Microsoft Point expenditure." – Nate Ahearn
