Heroes Interview with James Salt :: 24-10-08 19:43:32
1

Big Download  had the chance interview DICE producer,

James Salt about Battlefield Heroes.

When can we expect the game to officially launch to the public and come out of its current beta state?

When Gmail first appeared, Google was cautious with adding new users. They built an invite system, which they used to slowly increase the number of people who could use the service.

We are taking a similar approach with Heroes. We want Heroes to be a great experience for the people that come visit us. To ensure that happens, we issue new batches of beta keys and then do tests on various parts of the system, to make sure it can cope with the added load. So, basically, Heroes is already out and we are adding new players every day. Once we are confident we can provide the level of performance we want, to the number of people we hope will play Heroes, we'll announce our next phase. Read the rest...

Bad Company Sequel Planned? :: 24-10-08 05:47:48
According to an article in Variety, EA Games president Frank Gibeau
recently mentioned that a "sequel idea is planned"
for Battlefield: Bad Company.
Some of you may just want to find out if there's any hot news, so here are the things revealed in these interviews that you might not already know, though honestly, I don't think any of this is actually surprising:

Gibeau says there is a "sequel idea planned" for "Army of Two" and also for "Battlefield: Bad Company." Which is as close to saying there will indeed be an "Army of Two 2" ("Army of Three?" "Army of Two Squared?") and "Bad Company 2" as we'll probably get until the sequels are officially announced.
Read the full article here. Sadly, Battlefield 3 is nowhere to be found.
Stay strong, PC gamers.
Thx Total Battlefield

BF2 mod: HER :: 09-10-08 00:13:44

BF2 mod: HER by Hajas

bf2-mod-her-her_bf2_server.jpg

When this game was released I really loved the maps, weapons, vehicles, sounds, effects, enviroments... really almost everything except one thing which was so bad that killed the game for me... realism. Until the lack of real objective can be forgiven, but not a game that you need to waste a full clip to kill just ONE soldier in front of you...

Was such a waste have a so great game destroyed to make it easy, but so easy that until in Quake you will kill/die more fast than in Battlefied 2.

Well, after almost 2 years without play the game, I realized that Christmas was coming and I'll have my family over here in almost days of December, and BF2 could be a great game to play in LAN, since have BOTs, lots of stuff to do, explode, kill, etc... and after the success of HER Airborne, I was thinking... why not save this game too? That's how all started...

Wasn't difficult to MOD aside it's a VERY DIFFERENT engine than Quake and Unreal which I'm more familiar, but when I finaly found how works, was very easy.

I know about Project Reality, which is a amazing MOD with a lot more stuff and serious gameplay than mine, but was more close to simulation and will not work well to play with people that don't use to play much FPS games, so I made a smaller and smartter MOD to add realism to the game without change many files and create big packages of thousands of megas to download, and keeping the original fun gameplay.

Features:
1. All Weapons are Deadly Now (Pistols Inclued)
2. Anti-Tank a lot more powerfull, so infantary aren't "unarmed" targets anymore
3. Damage of Tanks shots are a lot more powerfull
4. Well balanced weapons to give a nice and fun gameplay
5. And Yeah! Now you can play as Sniper if you wish!
6. Blood FX
7. More Bots to Play on COOP MODE in LAN
8. New Bot Names (Clan members from BC, 3rL and NER)

Nvidia's modern graphic cards offer a whole range of settings to optimize the display of games and also of professional applications.

Some settings can also be used to improve the performance and to resolve rendering errors.

nHancer is the tool that empowers both experts and inexperienced users to fully utilize the possibilities of the graphic card.

To get an impression of the possible improvements please check out these comparison examples:
Anti-Aliasing comparison
Anisotropic filter comparison

Extensive explanations for all the various settings are directly shown in nHancer, enabling newcomers to immediately understand the effects of those settings. Experts, on the other hand, can use the advanced options to adjust every detail to their preferences.

One of the most prominent features of nVidia graphic cards is the support for automatic profiles. By using those profiles it's possible to optimize the rendering for every game or application without the need to manually adjust all the settings each time before starting it. nHancer greatly improves the management of those profiles, so anybody can use them very easily.

Heroes: Upgrading the site :: 25-09-08 21:11:18
1

We thought you would like to know that we have been planning to upgrade our site for some time now.

As our more regular visitors may have noticed previously, whenever we start a contest to give out Beta keys the site gets somewhat unresponsive. Soon this will be no more.

Whereas the look and feel of the site will not drastically change, the backend (all the bits you don’t see, just "feel" when things slow down) should drastically improve.

Apart from making all of us, here at DICE, very happy this will also have an additional benefit for everyone:
Once we have finished this upgrade we will once again be able to run regular Battlefield Heroes Beta key contests

Please keep in mind:
Responding to this news will not get you a Beta key but, responding in an intelligent and coherent manner will earn you the respect of every reader.

Forgotten Honor 2 Opens New Campaign :: 25-09-08 21:07:10
The Forgotten Honor 2 tournament for the Forgotten Hope 2 mod would
like to announce today the opening of a new campaign.
Here's what they had to say:

Imagine Forgotten Hope 2, with every player fighting for his team and not his personal score. A game where every player communicates with his squad and where all squads are striving to achieve goals given to them by the High Command.

This is Forgotten Honor. Each Friday a 64 player battle will take place. The sides of the conflict are organized in two 32 player teams, with command structure based on actual World War II units. No previous experience is needed and everything is completely free. Just click on the picture, join and enjoy Forgotten Hope on an organized level.

This campaign will go where none have gone before. We will start on the green, hilly terrain of Greece and Crete before following the withdrawing British forces to Africa. The maps will be more "infantry friendly".

Each week a new map will be released and each of them will be made with hours of historical background digging, balancing discussions, testing and of course loads of hours of mapping.

To find out more information about this new campaign be sure to visit here.
If you'd like to register a spot in the tournament, click the picture below:
